Numbers
All number words end in -u. Big numbers are simply spoken the way they are written: from big to small, digit before place value.

Digits
Each digit begins with a different consonant, in alphabetical order.

How numbers are built
- The digit counts its place value: dosu beku = “2 tens” = 20. It is the same rule as kiru dova = three houses (quantity first).
- From big to small, as written: 21 = dosu beku pavu.
- Empty places are skipped: 205 = dosu bolu lahu.
- A one before a place value is dropped: 10 = beku, 100 = bolu, 1 000 = bisu.
- Big numbers in groups of three; bisu, baru and bunu always stay. That way 1 300 000 and 1 000 300 cannot be confused. From a trillion upwards a bigger number counts before bunu: bisu bunu = a thousand billion.
- Phone numbers and PINs are spoken digit by digit.

Decimal point and calculating

- Decimal point: after nutu every digit is spoken on its own, zeros too: 1.174 = pavu nutu pavu rimu fenu, 0.05 = nomu nutu nomu lahu.
- Calculating: the calculation words stand between two numbers; the whole calculation is one number, and only its last word changes its ending. The result comes with lute: kiru petu dosa lute laha. = 3 + 2 = 5. Multiplication and division come first, as written.
- Minus as a sign: nipu kiru = −3.
- The decimal point and the calculation words belong to the number and therefore come before what is counted: dosu nutu lahu seta = 2.5 hours.

Derived forms
Like every root, numbers take all the endings. In numbers of several words only the last word changes its ending: dosu beku pavi = the 21st.

Cardinal numbers come before what is counted (kiru dova = three houses), ordinal numbers come after it as adjectives (dova kiri = the third house).
